all gangs have specific tattooing

Labels:

Gang tattoos have much in
common with tribal tattoos
for obvious reasons.
Not all gangs have specific
tattooing, most do.
This way a member is
permanently marked as a
member.  It is forever.  No
turning back.  It also shows the community who he belongs with.  It
lets a gang member know if he is approaching a friend or an enemy
when he is walking down the street.
Gang tattoos also show significant events in the gang members life.
A tear drop tattoo is a familiar site on many gang members and can
mean a number of things.  It can mean he has been to prison. It can
mean someone in his family or gang that he was close to has died.
A tear drop half filled in with ink can mean he has lost someone, but
he killed the person who killed them.  So he has avenged their
death.
Gang Tear Drop Tattoo 1We know it means sadness, but to
find out exactly what it means you
would need to ask him.

Of course guns are also a common theme amongst gang members.
Among the Latin gangs religious themes are also prevalent.

Of course these are common themes amongst gang
members.  Specific gang tattoos are hard to find.  Even on
the Internet.  Many tattooist refuse to do them so they don't show
up in flash or portfolios.
It goes without saying that, if you aren't a gang member don't
get a gang tattoo.  The police may mistake you for one, another
gang member may see you as an enemy, and the gang whos tattoo
you are wearing won't take it lightly if they see you and you really
don't belong to their gang.
The trained eye can tell which gang a person belongs to and
significant happenings in his life.  This is helpful to prison officials.
As most gang members wind up in jail or prison.

Tribal Tattoos

Labels:

Most of the designs we call
tribal tattoos are from the
South Pacific Polynesian.
They were originally brought
home by sailors who visited
these islands.
They are usually black with
the black being the tattooed
portion and the skin making the space in between the linear or more
commonly spiralling designs.
Originally they told the story of a person and the deeds he (or he
and his family) had accomplished.

Phillipine Islander Tattoo 1In the Philippines the natives were
headhunters and a tattoo would be given
when a young man had gotten his first head.
Usually all over his upper torso.
In Somoa they were indications of rank in the
tribe.  These were full bodied tattoos and took
a long time to complete.  In addition to this
they were very painful.  If a young man was
unwilling to complete the tattoo because of the pain it brought great
dishonor to him and his family.
Young women were also tattooed to add to their beauty and as a rite
of passage into adulthood.  In some areas the young women who
couldn't stand the tattooing would be considered unable to
withstand childbirth and wouldn't be very valuable as a wife.
All of these tattoos were done using very crude instruments and the
risk of infection and death was high.  The black was generally made
from ash from the fire pits.  Nevertheless, not going through the
tattooing process would leave the man labeled a coward and the
woman unworthy.  This was completely unacceptable.
It is important to remember that most tribal art was done in black
as few other colors were available to the them.
Now almost any black geometric shape will pass as tribal art.  This
art usually has no meaning other than the one in the tattooed
persons head.
The geometric designs are quite beautiful and it is speculated by
many that the person seeking tribal tattoos is attempting to belong
to a tribe of their own.
Below are a few examples of modern tribal tattoos.

The Tattoo Body Art site is to help you explore the tremendous
amount of different tattoo designs available, what they mean (if
anything), and to help you pick the one that is just right for you.
Tattoos that seem great today may be hard to explain to your
children or your grandchildren.
It's important to remember that tattoos should always be thought of
as permanent.
Some are beautiful and some are a little dodgy.
Unfortunately some tattoos are just downright uncomfortable to
explain.
Clown Skull 6There are removal techniques, but they are
expensive and hurt more than having the tattoo
done in the first place.
And they don't always work completely.
We'll also try to explain the processes involved in
tattooing and help alleviate some of the
anxiety associated with this unknown.
We'll discuss the different types of tattoos and their meaning.
You do not want to get a tat associated with a certain culture or tribe
and find out you are offending someone.
Nor do you want lettering that means something other than
intended.
You'll learn about these tats, find out what they mean and see a few
examples.
Look to the menu on the right and you'll find them sorted out for you
by category.
Hopefully you will learn what tattoo body art is just right for you.

Military Tattoos

Following are some all
purpose military tattoos.
While anyone can have a
patriotic tattoo it is generally
unacceptable for who haven't
served their country to have
one.  The exception might be
one that said something like "
Army wife 2000-2005" or "In loving memory" etc.

Tattoo designs can be made
from photographs, symbols,
paintings, etc.  If it is visual
it can be made into a tattoo.
If it isn't visual there is
probably something to
symbolize it.

Using the alphabet we can start with the acorn and go to the zodiac.
The acorn symbolizes birth and life.  The acorn eventually grows into
powerful Oak Tree.
It symbolizes power waiting to be happen.  Ancient Britons believed
if you carried an acorn you would have longer life, be able to find
your way when travelling, and have general good luck.

The Zodiac is about the stars, planets, suns, and moons and how they are aligned. I believe it is used to predict outcomes.
Horoscope tattoos
For our purposes the Zodiac is just to show that tattoos can be
anything from A to Z. If it can be imagined and put to paper. It can
be a tattoo design. It can be put on skin. A word of caution, just
because it can be put on you doesn't mean it will look good there.
Not everything lends itself to a good tattoo design.

Japanese Dragon Tattoo Designs and Meaning

The Japanese Dragon Tattoo is a very beautiful and colorful tattoo design and very symbolic, with its origins in myths and folklore. It is also very mystical, adding to the appeal of the Japanese dragon tattoo. Over the ages, from Egyptian times the dragon has represented good and also represented evil. However, the attraction of the Japanese dragon, apart from its stunning beauty is that it represents good luck and the source of wealth. The Japanese dragon also represents the meaning of freedom and being fearless, both very attractive qualities.

In the Greek language, dragon is sourced from draca, which means serpent.

Like the angel, the Japanese Dragon also has the meaning of guardianship, providing a protective force over those it was associated with. Other meanings associated with the Japanese dragon is strength and power. In Japanese culture the dragon is associated with supernatural powers, and amazing wisdom.

There are six forms of the Japanese Dragon. They are:

Sui-Riu is the king Dragon and is in control of the rain. Therefore in this day and age of drought he is all powerful!

Han-Riu has many stripes on his body and is up to forty feet in length. One of the biggest dragons.

Ri-Riu dragon is a rare breed that is not well understood. However, it is known that they have amazing eye sight.

Ka-Riu is a brilliant red color, and a petite dragon in comparison with the others.

Fuku-Riu is a favorite dragon of many people as it is the dragon of luck.

Hai-Riyo is known as the dragon bird, and the most advanced form of dragon. It evolved out of Chinese mythology.

Careful With Dragon Tattoo Designs

Labels:

As with anything that will last forever, you should be cautious when you pick it out. This is especially true for dragon tattoo designs. First time tattooers may not realize the complications they will face if they do not think about their tattoo well enough ahead of time. Draw it out yourself on the part of skin you are thinking of designing. Use pen or marker so it will last a few days. If you do not get sick of it then that is the first step.

The colors of the dragon design should also be carefully selected. If you get lighter colors, they will fade and blend in with your skin tone. This can ruin a dragon tattoo if it is not regularly freshened up with new ink. If you opt to get your whites, pinks, and yellows redone every six months or so, you can find yourself with a hefty maintenance bill. Darker colors fade, too, but they will show up better for far longer.

What about other occasions? Do you have any events that will require you to dress up, say, for a wedding? Would a dragon tattoo mar how you want to look that day? Does your fairy tale wedding dress include a dragon tattoo showing on your arm? If you do not think it would bother you, then you can start looking for a place to get the work done.
